Dental care is arguably the most important part of your pet’s overall health. After all, poor dental health can lead to a plethora of physical health problems. When tartar and plaque buildup on the teeth and at the gum line, toxins can leak into the bloodstream, causing damage to important organs that filter the blood, including the heart, the liver, and the kidneys. In order to keep the body healthy, we recommend ongoing dental maintenance and professional cat and dog teeth cleaning.

Professional Dental Care

When your pet comes in for a check-up, we examine the oral cavity to determine if a professional dental cleaning is in order. When your pet requires a professional cleaning, we treat the procedure like a surgical procedure, utilizing pre-anesthetic blood work, anesthesia, and complete anesthetic monitoring. During a professional cat or dog teeth cleaning, we scale the teeth to remove calculus buildup, and polish the teeth to minimize the future development of tartar and plaque.

When senior pets are in need of professional dental treatment, we use exceptional care for them to ensure their safety. All senior pets are recommended to undergo pre-anesthetic blood work to ensure they are healthy enough for anesthesia. All of our patients are sent home with antibiotics and pain medication, as needed, to aid them in their recovery process.

Home Dental Care

After your pet’s dental procedure, and once they have recovered, it’s important to maintain their dental health on a regular basis. We recommend at-home teeth brushing regularly, but we also understand that some pets are not open to having their teeth brushed. Our veterinary team can help provide recommendations about at-home dental care that your pet will accept.
